Patrick Boateng II is an entrepreneur, innovator, and story-teller at the intersection of culture and commerce. He loves building things that bring people closer to the version of themselves that they dream of. Patrick has dedicated his education and career to two questions: ‘What if?’ and ‘Why not?’

As a student at Harvard Design School, Patrick produced and edited design journals and curated student exhibitions. His passion for art and design sparked an interest in exploring other creative cultures, which led to an eventual career as a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. State Department. As a diplomat stationed in Guangzhou, China, Patrick was the liaison between the consulate and local post-secondary design institutions as well as art galleries, frequently giving talks on art, architecture, design, and art criticism.

After his time at State, Patrick founded and led Ceylon, a skincare brand scientifically developed to help men of color achieve clear, healthy skin through scientifically-backed formulations that are easy to integrate into a daily routine. The brand as a response to his personal experience, struggling with skin issues such as razor bumps, acne, and hyper-pigmentation with few product options to help alleviate those concerns. Ceylon emerged as a key player in the beauty industry and brought inclusivity to the forefront of the conversation.

Patrick’s eye has always been on how to better art and commerce, which is the underlying framework for Goliath, an art company that blends artist representation and commercial partnerships. Through Goliath, Patrick aim’s to develop collaborative platforms that bring artists and their audiences closer together while opening new channels for economic support and creative innovation.

From Patrick’s perspective, the presence of art in our lives allows us to understand one another better and connects us to higher levels of consciousness. Art is the medium through which we can speak on things that we otherwise may not be able to express clearly. It allows us to discover new aesthetic and intellectual possibilities. Art challenges us to step outside of ourselves and see what isn’t always apparent. Most of all, art is an opportunity to bear witness to what makes humanity special.
